HOW WE ARE ORGANISED
MISSIONARY LEADERSHIP
Our rector is supported by a lively, dedicated local ministry team. Service cover is augmented by two local, retired priests. The lay ministry team includes one reader and eight licensed ministers, all of who have completed the appropriate Diocesan training courses. They have each undertaken modules to help them lead worship & house groups, work with young people and undertake pastoral work. The team meet with the Rector regularly to plan how mission may be developed and how they can support each other.GROUP ADMINISTRATION
The Rector is supported by a Group Council comprising two members of the ministry team and representatives from each of the ten parishes. The Council meets quarterly and elects its officers from within its membership. Each PCC contributes to a small budget which covers the Rector’s expenses and other Group activities.
In alphabetical order, our parishes are: BASSINGTHORPE; BITCHFIELD; BOOTHBY PAGNELL; BRACEBY; BURTON le COGGLES; INGOLDSBY; LENTON (including Keisby, Hanby and Osgodby), OLD SOMERBY (including Great Humby); ROPSLEY (including Little Humby) and SAPPERTON.
Each village retains its own Parochial Church Council (PCC), with its own officers and bank account and is responsible for the maintenance of its own Church buildings. Great and Little Humby villages share responsibility for an ecumenical Chapel, which is an active supporter of the Group.FINANCE
In 2010 all ten PCCs paid their parish shares in full; the total amount is set to cover the cost of providing full-time stipendiary ministry. Over the past three years nine PCCs have run Stewardship Programmes. In addition to boosting regular income these programmes have proved to be a valuable opportunity to grow mission and awaken in the community the value of the church and its ministry.
In addition we believe in supporting other worthwhile charities like Christian Aid, a specific Harvest charity and the Lincolnshire Old Churches Trust annual “Bike & Stride” event.
