St. Andrew's, Boothby Pagnell

OUR VILLAGE AND ITS CHURCH
St. Andrew’s is a significant focal point for our village, which consists of around 60 houses and is located five miles south east of Grantham. It is a close community with about 130 residents, 35 of which are young people.
The building dates from the 13th Century and is a significant example of medieval architecture. It has a noted Victorian refurbished interior, including a working Hope Jones organ. A peal of 5 new bells was installed in 2009 (these are now rung for both Sunday services and special occasions). As it is situated on a busy through road, the church is normally kept locked. Access is gained by via the PCC officers.
During 2010 our PCC ran a successful funding programme which has added substantially to community fellowship. We regularly contribute to Action Aid and the Group Christian Aid activities. The village is an active supporter of the Church Tourism Trail and the Lincolnshire Old Churches’ Bike & Stride event.

CHURCH SERVICES
We have 2 Church Services a month on the 2nd (Communion) and 4th (Evensong) Sundays. We hold a Patronal Festival on the 1st Sunday of Advent. Our Harvest, Carol, Easter and Christmas Day services are well supported.

THE STATE OF OUR BUILDINGS
The PCC fully accepts its responsibility to maintain St. Andrew’s. The basic structure of the building is sound and the recent Quinquennial Survey showed no major works were required. The Church building has electricity but no water connection. Over the past 5 years we have spent nearly £50,000 on new heating and lighting plus the installation of the new bells. We funded these works from our own resources.
