St. Mary Magdalene, Bitchfield

Our Village and its Church
Bitchfield is at the southern end of the North Beltisloe Group. The village, formally part of the Easton Estate, stands on either side of the valley of the West Glen river, with about 30 houses and 80 residents (including 12 children). Originally a farming village, now with only one family involved in farming, it is a commuter village and also has a significant retired population.
The Norman church is located in Lower Bitchfield. The building and churchyard are in excellent condition, with considerable sums being spent in recent years for its upkeep. The three bells dating from the 1700s have been rehung for chiming only. The Charity ‘Friends of Bitchfield Church’ was set up in 2005 and has raised more than £6,000 from local events for the maintenance of the church and its surroundings. The church is open daily throughout the year.

Church Services
Services are held monthly, alternating Holy Communion and Morning Prayer (Evensong in the summer). A CD player with music of choirs from Lincoln and Ripon Cathedrals accompanies hymns. The church also hosts Group Services and Festivals during the year with choir and organist followed by refreshments.

The Parochial Church Council
The PCC consists of 10 members from the village, and meets twice a year. The Annual Parish Share and Group contribution are paid in full.
